Cleveland lawyer Gary Seewald has for 40 years represented individuals and small businesses, deal with forces and powers, more powerful and influential than themselves. His long and successful career revolves around the issues he cares most about — preventing individuals and businesses from being bullied, hurt or destroyed by systems and parties more influential than they are.
Since 1971, Gary has fought for the rights of those whose freedom; finances and business are in danger. Historically this has included criminal defense, small business issues and personal injury as his main practice areas, but Gary has since added consumer law to his repertoire. Consumer laws brings new challenges with it but the same fundamental issue that of protecting his clients’ rights from those more powerful than themselves — in this case, representing those who have been lied to, cheated and deceived via a commercial transaction. This is especially true for those who have been misled through deceptive sales practices, fraud and Lemon Law violations.
When he is not fighting for clients, Gary runs a refuge for tourists in Central America. Pine Ridge Lodge is in the Belizean jungle and provides a haven for those visiting the Mayan ruin of Caracol. Located in the middle of the Maya Mountains in Belize his lodge provides his family and guests with the exact opposite of 21st century American urban life; there is no electricity, power is provided by natural gas, no TV, kerosene lamps, fresh gourmet food made with the freshest of ingredients, wild animals, at night stars not lights, no stress, no problems. The only modern electronics is Seewald’s laptop computer. It is charged by an inverter placed in the pickup truck or at our nearest neighbor, a mile and a half away, Blancaneaux owned by Francis Ford Coppola. The regular visits for coffee at Blancaneaux allow for regular email and attachments. Belize offers Gary both the opportunity to relax and, without interruption, focus on his cases even while he is deep in the bush.
